A fully originated, shovel-ready natural gas power project in northwest Alberta — advancing toward financial close and construction commencement.
Spirit River is Epiphany Power Corp's flagship development — a 20 MW natural gas power project located in Spirit River, Alberta, designed to deliver reliable baseload capacity to the provincial distribution grid.
The project represents the completion of the full origination cycle. Land security, gas supply, environmental approvals, utility approvals, and interconnection studies with the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) have been completed. Spirit River is now advancing through the final stages of pre-construction work, including detailed engineering, contractor procurement, and project finance structuring.
Natural gas remains a critical component of Alberta's grid reliability — providing the firm, dispatchable capacity that intermittent renewables cannot. Spirit River is designed to operate as a highly reliable facility that complements the grid's ongoing transition rather than competing with it.
Spirit River has advanced through each origination phase with technical discipline and regulatory rigour.
Site identified and evaluated for proximity to existing gas infrastructure, transmission access, and development fundamentals. Land rights secured through negotiated agreements with landowners.
Natural gas supply volumes and delivery terms confirmed with regional producers. Fuel supply agreements and interconnection to existing pipeline infrastructure pending.
Environmental approvals (EPEA) and Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) regulatory approval processes completed. All permits and authorizations required for construction are in place.
AESO interconnection application submitted and studies completed. Connection point and associated transmission upgrades confirmed. Project is registered and progressing within the AESO queue, currently in Stage 3.
Detailed engineering underway. Contractor procurement and EPC scope finalization in progress. Project finance structure being advanced in parallel with lender and equity partner engagement.
Financial close is the next major milestone. Upon close, construction will commence with a targeted in-service date to follow. Epiphany Power will manage construction oversight through to commercial operation.
